Creating pages on the World News Polka Archive

This guide explains how to create new pages using the archive’s templates and editorial standards.


Creating a new version page

This applies to both guest performances and Barry Mitchell studio versions.

Steps

  1. In the search box, type the page title (for example: Anne Reburn – Guest Version)
  2. Click Create this page
  3. Paste the following:
{{subst:VersionStarterBarry}} or {{subst:VersionStarterGuest}}
  1. Click Save page
  2. Fill in the sections as appropriate

Creating a year page

Year pages list all known broadcasts for a given calendar year.

Steps

  1. Create a page titled with the year (for example: 2026)
  2. Paste:
{{subst:YearStarter|year=2026}}
  1. Save and populate the tables

Creating a Base Version page

Base Versions describe recurring lyric variants used across multiple broadcasts.

Steps

  1. Create a page titled Base Version X
  2. Paste:
{{subst:BaseVersionPageStarter
 | number = X
 | examples =
* [[Example Version Page]]
}}
  1. Save the page
  2. Ensure the navigation bar appears at the bottom:
{{BaseVersionNav}}


Broadcast history tables

All broadcast tables must include:

  • Date aired
  • Notes
  • Source column

Internet Archive links are preferred where available.

Example row:

| 2 Feb 2024 || Re-air || <ref>https://archive.org/details/...</ref>

References

  • Use <ref> tags inline
  • Include <references /> at the bottom of the page
  • Infoboxes must not contain references


Interviews

  • Must be clearly labelled as private correspondence
  • Quoted verbatim unless otherwise stated
  • Permission from the interviewee is required
